The four components
The government explanation gives the pattern YY BH #### XX. YY represents the year digits of first registration, BH identifies the series, and the remaining digits and letters complete the mark. A two-digit year should be displayed as written rather than treated as a vehicle-age certificate.
What the decoder returns
The tool separates those components and deliberately leaves the state and local RTO blank. It does not establish eligibility, tax payment or whether the displayed number has been issued. For those questions, use the government service.
