Identify the supported authority prefix before splitting the remaining characters. This implementation uses the explicit registry and its format rules; longest-prefix matching alone does not establish a real registration.
Delhi shows why context matters
Delhi’s running-series table contains several letter patterns under distinct vehicle-category headings. Preserve the literal characters and check the applicable category and office instead of assigning every letter a universal meaning.
Keep leading zeros in serials
A serial such as 0001 is displayed as entered. Series characters are not an owner identifier, and a matching pattern does not confirm that a registration exists. The tool deliberately does not promise current auction availability or series status.
