Follow the published designation
Karnataka’s directory separately labels regional and assistant regional transport offices. Gujarat likewise lists RTO and ARTO entries, including ARTO Gandhinagar. A directory should preserve that designation instead of calling every entry the same type of office.
Office versus authority
An office is a physical or administrative point of contact. An authority is the body assigned a particular power or function. Do not infer identical powers from similar acronyms; use the department’s service instructions for the transaction.
Our naming rule
We use a neutral registration-reference label when the precise designation or function is not evidenced. One code may have more than one listed facility. This guide does not assert a nationwide hierarchy of RTO, RTA and ARTO powers.
