Field notes

What an RTO code can tell you

A registration location is not a person's identity or current location.

What can be interpreted

When a mapping is supported by a source, a code can identify a registering authority or a historical registration location. The decoder may also separate series characters and a serial using a supported pattern.

What cannot be inferred

The characters do not provide an owner's name, home address, current location or current ownership. A pattern match does not prove that a registration was issued. Use the cited authority page to understand the scope of the mapping, and official services for record-based questions.
