Read the structure, understand the limits

A registration mark is a reference code. It is not an owner record.

A familiar pattern

In our supported conventional examples, the first letters identify a state prefix, the following digits identify an authority code, and the remaining letters and digits form the series and serial. Different formats require different rules.

MH · 12 · AB · 1234

Prefix · authority identifier · series characters · serial

Exceptions deserve their own explanation

BH marks have no local RTO component. Delhi series need category-specific evidence. A Telangana directory identifier is not, by itself, evidence that the same digit sequence appears on a number plate.

Our decoder returns a structural interpretation, an unreviewed candidate, a historical-prefix note or an unsupported result. It never confirms whether a number has been issued.
